Nigerians strictly adhere to their religions and traditions. The patient always cared about her children and protected them from every obstacle, she was there for her children always. She started to face the problem in the form of tiredness. At times she use to forget things and was not responding instantly to things. Now it was time for her child to do something for his mother and save her life.
Just few months prior the treatment Mrs. Kabura was diagnosed with chronic liver disease. She decided to came to Max Hospital for treatment. They consulted Dr. Subhash Gupta for the treatment. Dr. Subhash Gupta is the Liver Transplant Surgeon at Max Healthcare, Delhi. The Chief of Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary surgeon and the Director of the Center of Liver and Biliary Sciences at Max Hospitals in Delhi is accredited for his exceptional work in liver transplantation field all over the world. Dr. Gupta examined the patient and found that the reason behind her symptoms was she suffered from hepatitis B infection in past, which the body had cleared and left a mark on the liver there was a abnormal connection in her blood vessel draining the liver. Because of which the blood was bypassing the liver also called as lienorenal shunt. It was suggested by the doctor that the transplant has to be done as the liver was totally damaged. It was not difficult for the doctors to explain the treatment to Mrs. Kabura she already was aware of it as she had done a background research, and her son who came as an attendant agreed to donate half of his liver to his mother. Mother was scared for the child as he was young and has to see his life, but the doctors gave her the assurance and she was then confident and allowed the son to donate his liver.
The son was feeling as privileged that he was able to donate his liver to the mother. Looking at the compatibility between the two, the operation was planned and it was fairly straight forward just the thing was to identify the abnormal connection between the liver vein and the intestine vein that was draining the systematic circulation, once it was identified it was tied up and the livers of both mother and son recovered smoothly and were discharged within a week from the hospital.
The patient was really very happy with the facilities at the hospital, they did not face any problem in their treatment. They highly appreciated the work and efforts of the staff and services. They highly recommend Max hospital for liver transplant treatment.
