The nephrostomy tube is left in the kidney to allow easy drainage of urine, blood and residual fragments of stone. A stent may be placed to ensure patency of the ureter and facilitate drainage from the kidney to the urinary bladder. A catheter will be placed to drain urine from your urinary bladder.
